Tree Top Stage

Festival History Tour: Tree Top Stage

Text:

This theater was originally built for a group of performers from Hopkins High Schools. They call themselves “Tree Top Theater” players, and featured student actors who played both narrator and characters in various folk and fairytales. The stage was eventually moved further back into the woods and down the hill. The Tree Top Theater troupe lasted only two seasons, but one of the performers from the group, Carr Hagerman went on to become the popular walk about street character the Rat Catcher

The current stage is also a bit of a historic spot. It was on this stage in 1975 that Penn & Teller, the popular comic magic duo (Now appearing at the Penn & Teller Theater inside the Rio Suites and Hotel in Vegas) performed for the first time as Penn & Teller.
