Rumor has it that the Castle Kitchens cup was made for a trial run of the Feast of Fantasy, which opened the following year.
1984
The official cups this year are a bit unusual. One clearly says 1984, and the other is the same except the date has been defaced. Pnly the front of the 1 and the end of the 4 are visible (circled in the detail). If anyone knows the official history for these, I’d love to include it.
The mug labeled “Castle Kitchens” was the mug for the first official Feast of Fantasy, which started that year.
1985
Though the feast of fantasy started in 1984, the 1985 feast cup is the first feast cup to include the words “Feast of Fantasy,” but it does not show the date or the words “Minnesota Renaissance Festival.” This is because the 1985 Feast cup was not a separate mug design exclusive to the Feast. Rather, they were regular 1985 cups with the Feast of Fantasy logo attached to the back.
1986
The Feast cup for this year had three handles, but only two are visible in this picture.
