All Things Gypsy-esque

An introductory note and disclaimer:

In doing research for my Faire-Folk novels (http://www.faire-folk.com) I ran across a lot of information. A LOT of information. And, eventually, people started asking me for links to this, that, or the other... so I thought it might be easier to just organize what I'd found and toss it up here.

Not all of these links are/were used in research for my books. A lot of them (such as bellydance instructional videos) are things I went looking for as I formulated ideas for this page, thinking that someone, somewhere might want them. I don't endorse any of these companies... they're there simply to provide you with a variety for sake of comparison.

Not all these links (such as many of the clothing links) are relevant to the Roma people... but, again, are things that I thought many would find useful. Or I've been asked for. Or folks have submitted. I've tried to break things down into Romani and Middle-Eastern sections where possible.

I am not Roma. The people in my books are not Roma... just as the O'Malleys in the Irish Cottage aren't off the boat from Ireland. Ryna and the others are just a bunch of folks addicted to a traveling lifestyle, and given that the Gypsies are noted travelers (and vardos are really darned cool), the connection seemed obvious to them. Their RenFaire personnaes are what can best be described as Fantasy Gypsy — the stuff that would make good street theatre and stage shows. The true Roma... well, there are many articles out there written by folks far better informed than I. I've linked the sites I've found of interest as well as ones others have suggested to me.

In that spirit, if there's something you'd like to see, ask! If you have a link, suggest it! And if you find a broken one, tell me! My email address is listed at the bottom of each page, just to make your life a little easier.

Okay, enough of the rambling disclaimer. Go explore!
